Statement

Every action that shapes our physical world begins as an incorporeal thought, dream, or decision — yet we rarely grant these invisible forces the weight they deserve. I create artwork to bridge this divide, making the intangible tangible and revealing the interplay between our unconscious and reality.

My work explores the fluid boundary between mind and reality through a blend of abstraction, surrealism, and impressionism. These styles that live at the threshold between the seen and unseen allow me to most faithfully translate subconscious vision into physical form. Further, oil paint’s translucent ephemerality and ceramic’s natural presence allow me to better show the incorporeal and make the unconscious physical.

The inner world of our mind is not fixed: it can be rigidly guided by dreams worshipped as gods, consumed by responsibility, or open and unhurried, freely drifting through life. My work traces all of these relationships. In Ether's Heart, I show a mindscape ruled by a dream; in Golden Wishes, I explore a reality consumed by responsibility and the weight of what we sacrifice to realize our desires; while in my more abstracted work such as Soul Wood, I show an interpretation of a world free from reality.

I trace the stream of invisible, subconscious thought and the permeable membrane between mind and world – because it is there, in that liminal threshold, that the unseen forces shaping our reality are most alive.
